We, at Material Things, were introduced to our new Fall Collection 2010. Once again Cheryl McMullen has created an outstanding season of fresh spins on sophistication. You will be excited to see her mingling of chic, bohemian twists fused with gypsy inspirations. Gypset is the name which is constructed by Gypsy+Jet Set=Gypset.

She imagined a gypsetter moving from Marrakesh to Marfa or from Shanghai to Somerset. Vintage pieces and their influence infuses the collection. The fabrications are also impressive. You will see organic, leather, silk, wool and cotton. All pieces are embroidered and embellished. ps-denim is being reintroduced.

We know you will love this fall's designs as we do. Coming up next week begins WESA, our largest show of the year. The Denver WESA show begins on January 14th and runs until the 19th of January. We are proudly representing Double D Ranchwear Apparel and Double D Home Collection,Vintage Revival Jewelry, Jaun Antonio and Moulin Rouge for our handbag lines, Kim Yubeta and Don Lucas.

Everything we represent are all diverse from one another, but yet remaining in the arena that compliments Double D Ranchwear so well.

Our WINN Show in Las Vegas, begins February 15th through the 18th. We don't know our booth number yet, but as soon as we know, we will fill you in. We will be in the Amazon Room.

We just returned home from Dallas, Texas, last night. We finished our last show there and it was a complete success. We almost doubled the figures from last year. Some people needed more fall 2009 to fill their stores for winter as they've sold everything. Then we showed all of spring to those customers who had not seen spring. We also introduced the summer line to over 50 customers. The response was outstanding. The summer line was smaller than spring so we were able to see more people and show them in a shorter amount of time. Both lines are fabulous, what can we say? Next on the agenda is Arizona and Albuquerque on November 1st for one week. Please make appointments with Tyler to see spring, summer and fall 2009. He will be calling as he will be traveling the entire week and you don't want to miss this "home run," season. We have added in two new colors for the gorlitza skirt. The first will be white with red and blue bric brac which is called The Patriot. And the second one has a delft blue body with red and white bric brac The style numbers are S1379 for the short one at $49.00 and S1397 for the long one at $65.00. Shelli and Colin are leaving for Santa Ynez, California to do a trunk show at Outpost. They have many customers and many of them are equestrians. We are expecting a very successful trunk show there. Might even sneak in a dinner in Santa Barbara.

That wraps up the traveling until January 2010. Then the frenzy starts again with Denver WESA, which is our biggest show in the year and back to Dallas. We will be introducing fall of 2010 and showing spring/summer who haven't seen them yet.

East Meets West

Our suitcases are slowly but surely climbing the stairs for two large markets in October. The first one is our Albquerque market which runs from October 16th-18th. We will be showing Double D for Spring 2010. The name of this season is "East Meets West, Culture Clash."
We will show you an infusion of eastern and western flair combined together in many pieces. You will see brightly colored rodeo shirts that can be paired with gorlitza skirts (spanish influence). Fushcia, Berry, Ming Green, Indonesian Ivory, to name just a few are some of the colors for spring.

The October Dallas Market is one of our largest in the year, so we encourage you to make an appointment. At this market, we show spring and all the new pieces for summer 2010.

Attendance is way up, so we are calling and emailing for apppointments.

Tyler is leaving this Friday, October 9th, for the Tobacco Leaf's Trunk Show. Shelli and Colin will be going November 6th and 7th for Outpost's trunk show in Santa Ynez, California.

We just completed a wonderfully, successful show at Ranch at the Rim, in San Antonio Texas. It was a benefit for the American Cancer Society The event was completely catered and featured 22 models. Many of the models had experienced cancer themselves. Double D's clothes looked so great!!! The Double D girls came up from Yoakum, Texas, also. Ranch at the Rim has a fabulous section designated for Double D clothing. To get first spring deliveries, all spring paper should be in by October 20th at the latest.

There is some fall 2009 merchandise that you can order and have it in your store long before the holidays. We will have all pieces with us.

Three shows back to back!

We had three great shows back to back, Dallas, Las Vegas and finally Denver WESA.

Denver ended on a Monday but we were still busy with appts. on Tuesday. Crazy. Many customers ordered alot of Fall as it has sold so well in their stores with many months to go before Spring arrives. If you need more product, it is selling down, please act now to secure any merchandise that you need for the coming months.

Spring has been a major hit. The colors are vibrant and fabulous. The theme of Spring is East Meets West- Culture Clash, where you will see Asian fusion meet with Western Lifestyle. Treatments are with mirrors, jewels, embroidery. Different necklines, sleeves and body lengths add to all the excitement.

Our numbers significantly surpassed last years shows. We couldn't be more joyous that our customers are diggin' the new line for Spring. If you haven't attended any of these shows, you truly have missed the frenzy, the excitement in the air, and what feels like at least in the apparel business, a recovery taking place on the financial scene.

After that, we have Tobacco Leaf in Amarillo, Texas Oct. 9-10. Then, The Broadmoor Hotel, in Colorado Springs, Co. Oct. 12th. Join us for all the fun.

Then, we have the Clubhouse Inn, in Albquerque, New Mexico Oct. 15-18. We travel to that show 4 times a year.

Our Upcoming Shows

Double D Ranch's designer, Cheryl McMullen, has done her homework and it definitely showed it up in her new collection. In fact, at our first market showing in Dallas, Texas mid August, Double D Ranch broke records in attendance and numbers. Much to our delight and despite the economic times, our showroom was a frenzy and we feel we can attribute to Cheryl's unique vision into fashion's future and trends, her extensive research and her to true devotion to her craft. This is what has kept Double D Ranchwear on top of the women's apparel world for over 20 years.

Double D Ranch's, Spring 2010 collection, is a dichotomy of mixing various cultures and melding them into this season's "Culture Clash Theme." It's not about opposites and diverse cultures, but about connections, unity and faith around the world. "Culture Clash," simply put, is a where east meets west.

Color, and lots of it, is still important for this selling season. Double D Ranch's color palette pulls it's color inspiration from Holi or India's Festival of Colors. Then (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/holi.(saturated oranges, juxtaposed to fresh berry colors are key. An intense ming-green melds with vibrant yellows and true reds, keeping the color palette fun and fresh. The key to making the palette work is white and it's liberal use in keeping all of the intense colors beautifully tamed.

This season we are seeing a delft mixing of western playfulness, gypsy junking, and asian flair in Double D Ranch's Spring Collection. Colorful, bright folk embroideries are key with motifs ranging from Mexican florals, Chinese dragons, Mendhi tattoos, and the tried and true; western cowgirl. Graphics and embroidery say so much; they tell us a story.

Since 1993, crosses have played an important role in the designs for Double D Ranchwear. Cheryl McMullen, is always ready to give God the sole and soul credit for each and every collection. The Christian cross can be seen symbolically throughout her collection this season.

We hope that by sharing Cheryl's inspirations, you will understand and be able to explain how the designer got her ideas for this upcoming spring season. Cheryl spends countless hours researching future fashion trends along with circa eras to bring you and your customer the best that Double D strives to always offer.

New Mexico Road Show

As you will see in the pictures, we had a trunk show last Thursday and Friday at Michelle's, which is in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Then bright and early we drove to Albuquerque to do a trunk show at Trudy's, The Wild Rose.
Both shows were a complete success. It certainly leads us to believe what we hear. That the economy is turning around. Both stores served lunch to their customers, which is always greatly appreciated. The items that caused the "feeding frenzy," were the Balalaika Folk Art Dress and all the Fleece Jackets. In Trudy's store, we completely sold out of the dress.

Remember, it is made in four colors and the price is only $45.00.(Style D877) We'll have many winter months ahead so we are still going to make the dress. There is a minimum on that dress which is 6 pieces, any size, any color. Less than $300.00 total. It clearly fits any body size and it is a great buy. The fleeces have a 3 piece minimum also. It has to be the same piece, any price, any color at $99.00. The fleece designs are The Last Stand C1952, which comes in Loden, Black and Romanov Red. The Peace Jacket C1934, is available in Dark Olive, Dark Heathered Gray and Romanov Red and the Zhostovo Folk Art Jacket C1950 comes in the Red, the Balalaika Blue and Black. The Minden C1964 is Red or Black and the Dig 'Em C1959 is Heathered Gray and Loden. The sizes are XS through XL and 1X and 2X. All tee shirts run in the same size availability and they are $2.00 extra for 1X and 2X and the fleeces are $10.00. They will be ready in early November as they sold out.

Hi Everyone,

We didn't forget you! All three of us have been on the road more than half of the summer. And, can you believe that August 1, 2009 is almost here? We here that shipping is going so well and we are really pleased. Of course, call us with any questions or concerns.

First of all, we have decided not to carry Coreen Cordova jewelry any longer.

We want to introduce you to Kim Yubeta. Kim is a native American Indian who lives in Tubac Arizona, She has been featured for some time in Simply Santa Fe in Sante Fe, New, Mexico, Crosby Gallery in Park City Utah and Karen Newby Gallery in Tubac Arizona.

Her work is so fabulous, like nothing we've ever represented, so it is flying out the doors. Some stores have already picked up her collection, so we need to be careful to protect the stores that have her.

She can customize her pieces and each piece comes with a complete explanation of every stone and gemstone included If you decide you might like some pieces, basically, you need to jump on it. We will be in Dallas (Room # 14595) for the Double D introduction of Spring 2010. This is a busy, busy market so we will be calling for appointments. Tyler has been traveling through the mountains quite a bit seeing whoever wants to see him. You can still see fall and after the middle of August we can show you Spring 2010, providing it doesn't conflict with a market.

The huge market in Denver is WESA. This year it is September 11th-14th at the Denver Merchandise Mart. All of our collections will be there in our two rooms, which are 3363 and 3364. Make your hotel, flight and car rental reservations early in the game. There are lots of stores that attend this market. If you stay close to the Mart, most of them provide shuttles.

Just Completed the Dallas Market

Remember everyone-you can send me an inspiration, a funny story, etc. for your store along with a picture if you would like. All of our customers are starting to read it and post. It is free advertising and a captive audience.

Colin and I and Tyler just completed the Dallas Market which was Thursday until Sunday. Our business was the best in years, so go figure! Almost twice the business in the last few years. Get it? Double D? It was so nice to already see fall tee shirts on some of our customers. Delivery and production are so great and we can thank Hedy for that. She is on it!

Tyler is on the road for one more week at least through the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. He has made some great sales, so that is so encouraging in this economy. If you were concerned and didn't order enough spring/summer Double D, don't get caught again! We ran out and so did the stores.

Home from our West Coast Trip

We were on the road for what seemed a long time. But, I won't lie to you, half of it was for vacation also. We traveled along the coast of California and Colin took me on a whistle stop tour of hot spots I had never seen. Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Solvang, The Hearst Castle, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Truckee, Carmel, Sausalito, San Francisco and Monterrey. It was a great time and I am so glad I saw this part of our country.

Okay, we did work. We visited some of our great accounts and it is always wonderful to see their stores. In some of the stores, we were really fortunate to meet some of their best customers. We would no sooner take Double D out of the clothes bags and the jewelry and it created quite the frenzy. Remember, on our website, www.materialthingsinc.com, there is an opportunity to write about your store and even scan a pic or two. Take advantage of this, we all need the free advertisement with a great audience especially.

California Here we Come

Hi Everyone

This is a first for us, so wish us luck! We are packing our bags for California. Double D Ranchwear and jewelry is what we want to sell, not looking for movie stars. But oil would be fine, Texas Tea!

We will be arriving into Santa Barbara on May 18th. It better still be there. Santa Ynez on the same day. We would like to come by your store and say "Hi."

Have you seen Double D Fall 1 and Fall 2? It is fabulous and has been selling off the charts. Please see our website, which is, www.materialthingsinc.com. We scanned every style and color for Fall 2009 on the website.

Also, we have all of the pillows and bedding. They are wonderful! The photos of the pillows and bedding are on line as well. In addition, we will have all of the jewelry designers,Coreen Cordova, Vintage Revival, Kim Yubeta, Don Lucas and Del Corazon.

We also want to introduce you to Juan Antonio handbags. We fell in love. Please view our website in the next couple of days. My goal is to get all of the Moulin Rouge Handbag pictures scanned in for your orders. There are too many to take to California. We do very, very well with them.

Solvaing is our next stop and then San Luis Obispo. We will also be in San Simeon, "think we can sell to Hearst's Castle?" I've never seen Carmel, Monterray, Pebble Beach, Burlingame, Merced, and then who knows?

The last stop on this whistle stop tour will be in Stockton to see Colin's parents and then Lake Tahoe. Have I worn anyone out yet?

This is just California. Then we will be doing the June Women's Apparel Show in the Dallas Merchandise Mart. The dates for that show are June 4th-7th. Our room number is 14595. Tyler will be traveling through the rest of the State of Texas and he will be also driving through Oklahoma and Kansas on his way home to Denver.

Shelli and Colin will also be traveling to Albuquerque, Taos, Ruidoso, New Mexico, and through the Rocky Mountain's.

We have registered to have our own booth in the Cody Show at the Denver Merchandise Mart, June 26-28th. This is suppose to be a great show! Never know until you try.

Tyler's Road Trip

Tyler just returned from seeing as many of you as he could in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Idaho. What he discovered and conveyed to us, is that times seem to be tougher there than Arizona and Texas.

We got off the road late last night

We got off the road late last night just in time for Tyler to repack the van and be "On the Road Again," for two weeks. He will be in Montana from April 22nd to April 28th. Then he will be in Idaho from the 29th-30th. Next is Utah on May 1st through the 5th. He will have Double D, Fall 1+2, Vintage Revival, Coreen Cordova, Del Corazon, Moulin Rouge Handbags and Don Lucas Jewelry. This is a great opportunity and it is our stimulas plan for you! You don't have to travel anywhere, we're bringing it to you. Also, this is so exciting!

Have you all seen the Double D pillows before?Tyler will have about 40 of them as cash and carry. All of your favorite vintage coats, carpetbaggers, labs, elk, etc. are how these pillows were designed. So, first come, first SOLD! They are stunning. The van will be chock full of Double D Ranchwear, Fall 1+2, Double D infamous leather, suede and various other fabric pillows, Vintage Revival Jewelry, Coreen Cordova Jewelry, Moulin Rouge Handbags, Don Lucas Jewelry and Sarape Girl coats, vests and housewears (table runners, place mats, kitchie items).

Tyler will be leaving April 21st for at least two weeks. I think that means we might have to take care of Reggie (his boxer). We are back from our "On The Road Again" trip to Arizona

We are back from our "On The Road Again," of Arizona. We would deem it successful. It was beneficial to all of us and our stores to see their stores and access what they might need including any merchandising.

With this blog, we encourage our stores to send us web ready photos so that we can post them to the blog. Fall 1 and 2 orders from Double D are very strong, considering the conditions of our economy, so there is great hope! Some of the stores are holding off on jewelry orders to they come into full season again which would be September or after. It will soon become too hot in Arizona for tourism. Coreen Cordova, one of our leading jewelry collections is offering a"Traveling Trunk Show." Coreen will send your store thousands of dollars of jewelry for you to have for 5-6 days. The beauty of this is that you may have a trunk show, introduce the collection to existing customers and new ones as well. The fee is completely nominal and you virtually have no costs or obligation to have her one of a kind pieces, pendants, charms and chains in your store. May is filled up and we are working on scheduling through the end of the year, so don't dilly dally, call us for your date.

Colin and Shelli will be in Santa Fe and Albuquerque from April 15th through the 19th doing our trunk show in Albuquerque and visiting our stores in Santa Fe. Please call us for an appointment to see Double D and any of the jewelry and handbag collections.

Tyler will be traveling for almost two weeks to Montana and Wyoming. It would be important to call for appts. there as well.
